Today the temps have been in the 50's and I've been out raking leaves and stuffing them in big bags which we will put around the foundation at the Heron as homemade insulation. Last week was fairly cold, and Wednesday I took the day off to do some winterizing stuff. So I was lucky to be home on one of those blue sky days when the wind roars over the lake throwing surf up that sprays the rocks and grasses, creating a mini ice storm at the edge of the shore.

You can see how an ice storm does its damage. The water sticks and freezes until a tiny twig has a thick casing of ice. Do that to a tree and the weight breaks the tree apart.
