Vested Interests. So these vests were seriously cheap at a Bean's warehouse sale and I sent some down to my sisters (Vee, Ingrid, Colleen, Claudia) in Louisiana. Georgette, that's yours Colleen is waving about. Claudia and Mike were here in Maine for the last two weeks buying fleece stuff and going off to Nova Scotia to find our roots. I must report that they are better researchers than Ingrid & Robert who were here in August. They came back with charts and maps that actually showed where the Bourgs' land was. They brought back a CD with Acadian songs, one of which was a song I learned many years ago in the convent and have hummed for 30 years.
This picture of Melissa and her mom serves as proof that the laying out of an impressive table of food thing is genetic. The occasion was a recent dinner with Melissa's aunts and cousins who are not actually related to her. Whatevah. In my huge family, we'd be more likely to kick a few out than recruit new ones.

We had hoped to get in a November trip to Louisiana for the big Jinx-Melanie-party, but it ain't a happening thing and here's why: replacement of the Heron's electric hot water heaters with oil burning ones; purchase of a generator which after the ice storm of '98 I've decided is standard equipment for cold climates.

From now to Oct. 27th, I'll be submerged in work, trying to meet a deadline for the CollegeNow site. See you on the other side of that. My spare moments are spent reading thick books on Java; within a year I expect to be working almost exclusively in Java. More coffee, Mam?
