| It was April Fools Day for anyone who thought the ice would be out by today. I took these photos yesterday. The water is high from all the snow melt and it pushes the ice in chunks up on the shore. It's been in the 50s during the day, but it takes a while for 18 inches of ice to melt. Last Sunday was the day all the maple sugar shacks were open, barns where the sap is being boiled down to make syrup. Takes 40 gallons of sap to make a gallon of syrup. They serve maple walnut or vanilla ice cream with syrup on it.
These little crocuses are the first things to bloom. Other signs of spring: nets up on tennis courts, frisbees on the quad, buckets hung on maple trees, Jean cleans her scuzzy car.
