I was looking for a photo of my sister Georgette's dog Bogus who died recently. I have photos organized by year and month, so I would have to look through every April and May of several years to find one. I need a tagging system that will let me identify any kind of thing (photo, document, email, web page) with various tags, like "dog" or "Georgette" or "Alabama." This kind of thinking applied to the internet is what's called web2, the semantic web. Anyhow Bogus was an exceptional dog, probably the only German shepherd I liked, smart and attentive to the needs of his moms. They had taught him to be July's helper dog; he could open doors, pick up a remote or cell phone, stuff like that. Here's a pic of Georgette and July's new dog, Etch, a year old chocolate lab. He's a lucky guy.
Here's the July Mix. New stuff from Paula Cole, Laura Veirs, Girlyman, Grace Potter, and Tab Benoit. A great dope song from Don Vappie. So that's what all those "viper" references are about in old jazz songs. The hand clapping on the John Cowan song makes me unreasonably happy.

We rebuilt the section of dock that got washed away last year (2 seven foot poles and 3 brackets = $146) and put that section in at a lower level so Melissa can put her feet in the water. Here it looks like she's sitting in the clouds. In the flower gardens, the foxglove is having a spectacular year with a gazillion blooms on every stem. Our bike ride this morning included Whitaker Road, a dirt road that goes downhill all the way through deep shade. When you're all steamed up from some long slow climbs to get there, it's like stepping into a cooler.
Yesterday I rode to Thorndike; on the downhill ride through town, I can break the speed limit. Cheap thrills.
