It's about cultural evolution, how it's driven by non-zero sum "games" that lead to ever increasing and more global social complexity. He gets around the political incorrectness of ranking cultures by saying that humans are pretty much the same, but some of them live in cultural fossils. Hey, your mother dresses you funny and your culture is a fossil. Yes, that's much better. |
