Random Notes.
  • A little slow on PU documentation. Back to working a 5 day week for a while until the company stops hiring managers and hires some worker bees. Yeah, who makes your flagship product. I'll do it for a couple of months, but in deep summer there will be no way. And my spare cycles have been spent keeping up the theater pages and the Barn Raiser pages.

  • Yesterday I added a snotload of celtic shows to the Unity Centre schedule online. Although I've enjoyed the Thursday night series, it's just too much celtic and not enough variety. In the fall I will start my own promotions again where I will take the money risk. Hey, it was the risk that was fun.

  • Always amused when some classic computer science programming problem comes into play in work life. How to represent an integer of any length, much longer than a type Long. Conveniently Java as a BigInteger class that does just that. For a client at work, I needed to interpret a name as a base 36 number and convert it to an integer.

  • Total anticipation of the JazzFest trip. Here's the schedule. All my sisters will be at the beach for 3 days between fest weekends. Excellent. Made two Southern Places mixes to share with folks, one pre-Katrina and one post Katrina. Have also made arrangements for Newport Folk Fest later in the summer. Our music festival adventure pals Melanie and Marie will join us for that. Water taxis, yes!

  • In time for summer adventures, I've upgraded my ride to a 2007 Forester (from a 2000 with 170K miles). My first automatic ever. Has a giant-ass sunroof, leather heated seats, side air bags, a good sound system. Things that make the winter commute bearable. I should start a FaceBook group for people who have the Iko-Iko plate in different states. It's a group of two so far. I didn't even have to sing a few versions at the BMV this time although I was prepared to start with the Dixie Cups and work my way to Zap Mama. When you get a vanity plate ($20) in Maine, while you're standing at the window of the BMV, they call The Censor. Seven years ago I wanted IK0 X 2 and The Censor said no that might be a interpreted as COCKS. Hmmm. Not likely lady. Different censor this time and no problem.
