On a rainy afternoon drinking hot tea and cider and working though my day off list. Reading an Offbeat Magazine that arrived yesterday with a laptop open to Amazon. Great New Orleans things mostly not available on Amazon. Bought Aliens of Extraordinary Ability by The Magnetic Ear, a pocket brass band, and Dear New Orleans, an mp3 compilation with 31 cuts. On the October mix, the "sweeping and creeping" mix, there's some good gospelly stuff by Lizz Wright and Mavis Staples. Eden Brent is a Mississippi blues singer who writes new stuff that sounds like old stuff. Good things happen at Piety Street Studios. So much great music coming out all the time.

Technology update. New cellphones: Droid X for me, Droid Incredible for Melissa; different network: Verizon instead of T-Mobile. Getting Melissa a new phone is tricky; you have to wait to see if she bonds with it. I have to say the bonding happened pretty fast with this one. The Droid X is just state of the art. We both use Google contacts so as soon as I put in my gmail account info, my contacts and calendar were on the new phone. I highly recommend Google contacts. I didn't transfer text messaging history to the new phone. I loved re-reading the messages exchanged during trips or music festivals. I'll have to create some new history.
