Finally I understand how to work this Americal Folk Festival in Bangor. Move directly from one music stage to another, ignoring the not-the-usual-music-festival crowd who seem to be looking for a midway or cotton candy or something. Skip the crappy crafts, just get to the music. And there was good music to be had. I had great seating for terrific sets by Hot Club of Cowtown, Eden Brent, and Stooges Brass Band, all three I've wanted to see for some time and two of whom I'd like to book for Unity Centre.
Today was to be the third day of the festival, but it was cancelled by Hurricane Irene which is why I'm writing this on a laptop in the dark. It's gusty out there but nothing too bad. It doesn't take much to knock out power here.
A.M. update. Coffee in the blue granite ware drip pot. Every house I visit down south has one tucked up on the top shelf. Appropriately, it's the anniversary of The Storm. Our 5 kw crank generator is running all the important stuff. This fall I want to upgrade to a 10 kw electric start generator. I'd like it to be way quieter. Wing is in her safe spot in the back of my car because the vibration makes her nervous.
