Farmers Market and yard sale: Judy Rock, Sara Trunzo, and an Amish boy

Bike, kayak, films. Summer in Maine. And gardening. Everything is green and blooming. By the number of dents and dings, bruises and bites, I can tell that I'm having a physically active summer. This morning I did my simple bike ride, the 15 miler around the lake. Halfway down the camp road going out, I could see a big fox stretched out in silhouette against the sunny patch at the end. On the Burnham side I saw two big deer chasing each other through the woods. Last Tuesday I biked to Pittsfield on Horseback Road and back and Mount Road, 29 miles. That is a relatively flat route. The best kayak/canoe time is between 7 and 9 pm. The lake calms down and the sunset colors come out. Just me and the wake I'm making.

Our little farmers market was bustling on Saturday. Diane Hull was gathering signatures for a people's veto of a new law requiring registration 2 days before voting. Yeah, we're going to veto that thing. Melissa was running a yard sale for Triplet Park, helped by some kids from a summer camp. At the end of the sale there was a baby's high chair left which Katie, the Amish baker lady, wanted. Cookies for the camp kids and she got the chair. Her husband was coming down the street and I flagged his horse and buggy down to load it on. At our yard sales, we never set prices; it's strictly by donation, and we make more money that way with no haggling. Sometimes we do reverse haggling, eg, "No that's not worth a dollar, you have to take more stuff."
