Two shows on Wednesday nights this month, the Wednesday Night Experiment, tells me that the band matters much more than the night. I squeaked by on Joy Kills Sorrow and had a big crowd for Hot Club of Cowtown. A lot of central Maine people who don't usually go out to hear live music will go to the Bangor Folk Festival because it's free. Then if I book a band later who played there in August (Hot Club), they come out to hear a band they know. Both bands' hospitality rider specified a certain brand of whisky and my drinking coach (Monica) and I showed them how well it mixes with a good organic ginger ale, the kind that actually has ginger in it. We were supposed to be on a weekend getaway to the Flagstaff Lake Hut of the Maine Huts & Trails system, but Melissa's mom who is dealing with cancer is not doing well and she had a setback yesterday, so we are staying home.
