The last bit of Slidell High still with me is a cat name Xena the Warrior Kitty or XenaBenaVaccuumCleaner. If we are approaching Mardi Gras, she is nearing her birthday. She was born at Slidell High just before Mardi Gras 1997. The animal control people picked up the rest of the litter. She must have hidden. The head custodian (what was her name?) gave her to me. I tried to give her to Cris Callac, but his parents were divorcing and his mother sent the cat back to me. She was tiny and the vet said she had a heart murmur and wouldn't last long. She moved to Maine with us and before she retired was a pretty good mouser. These days she is not always feeling well, but still the clink of a spoon in an ice cream dish will have her at your side immediately. She prefers vanilla.

It must be because we are bound to home this winter because Melissa's mom is in hospice-at-home status. A girl needs something to get through the winter. It was 13 below this morning. That would explain the acquisition of certain new techno toys, an iPad to be specific. It is the first Apple thing I've ever owned and using it felt at first like suddenly being left-handed. As soon as I had it set up to live in Amazon/Google world and not Apple world, I bonded with it. I can play my hundred GB of music that lives in the Amazon cloud and use my bluetooth headphones. I can sync with my Google contacts. It supports exchange email for work. The browser is fast and robust and it's the right size for easy reading. It is the state of the art tablet.

Pam & Bob, Martha & Jim, and Monica came over to watch the Patriots squeak their way into the Super Bowl. Some quick Bananagrams at half-time. Excellent snacking throughout. Watching the second playoff game on the couch with the iPad in my lap, looking for a photo in old PU entries, then just drifting through pages at random visiting memories. And that's why I intend to put up a page every week of this year. Because revisiting the memories is so dear.
