Cheryl and her nephew Seth made a quick stop in Unity at the end of July. I made them take this photo in the sunflower house. We had tea and popovers at Jordan Pond with them. We wanted to be sure the kid got something to eat before spending a couple of days with Cheryl whom he noted eats odd things at irregular intervals.
One of the pleasures of summer in Unity is the drive in. When it opens in May it's officially summer. Everyone eats there at least 3 times a week. Favorite flavor of the summer: Maine black bear, a raspberry swirl with little chocolate cups filled with raspberry syrup. The tables outside are next to a free putt-putt course with little homemade buildings for holes.
If there is a scale for these things, it probably goes (1)hokey, (2)fabulously hokey, (3)lawn art. The lawn art installation to the left is the art of Espo at Unity Pottery. It could be about TV, could be about plumbing, or it might just be about porcelain.
Due to the fact that my sister Claudia goes to the bathroom a lot, we know that Espo has a degree in electrical engineering. Said degree hangs on the wall in the bathroom. After she returned from Nova Scotia last fall with facts and charts and maps of where the Bourgs lived in Nova Scotia, I thought she was a good researcher, but now I'm thinking maybe she just learns a lot from people's bathrooms.

The Heron has been very busy from May through July. Check out the picture of Melissa the Caterer in Allison's review of the symposium in June. Allison will get many cups of chicory coffee for that.
