It damn near got to be My Turn last night. Coming home on the road from Waterville in that flat boggy area, with the theme from Northern Exposure blasting on the CD Player and the moose steps out onto the road right on cue. Fortunately, she was in a hurry and kept moving. That has been a bad area for moose encounters this year. I try to come thru with my brights on so that I can see the sides of the road.
The moose to the left is on the corner by the Historical Society building; he's very useful for giving directions. Going to Belfast? Take a right at the moose. But he also seems ready to step out into the street. We could rig him with a motion detector light and scare folks coming thru town at night. We are having a great winter. It snows every few days and it seldom gets above freezing so we don't have melt and ice. Very satisfying to locals when things are as they should be. |
