Our friend Arlene found this old postcard picture in the Historical Society's collection. The elms were glorious, but are all gone now. Good timing on the find, because we're getting ready to paint, or rather stain, the building (in the middle with the gas pump in front). I was thinking about that just now as I walked past a small throw rug we just bought last night. Here's a swatch from the rug. I think we should paint the building these colors. That earthy tan has been suggesting itself for some time. Melissa says it's baby poop brown, but maybe baby poop is a rich earthy color.
In the building next door (on the left in the picture), attorney Nate Bell is moving in. This old safe is still there from when it was a bank.

I loved watching the Democratic Convention, stayed up each night to hear speeches. Clinton and Carter, Al Sharpton with his helmet head, the new guy on the block Obama. The art of the speech. I'm looking to do whatever I can to get a regime change in Washington. My small bit will be to do the Eliza Gilkyson concert on October 4 as a Democratic party fundraiser. Her song, Hiway 9, is still the music download above. Listen, if you haven't heard it yet.

Pam PC put me on to this Barbara Ehrenreich piece about the human rights for women aspect of combating Islamic extremism.
I hope now that we've done the party unity thing at the convention, more of the real issues will be addressed in speeches and the debates.
