In the season of the berry, Melissa has been making trifles with reckless abandon. Trifles and tapenade are the in foods of this summer. Our last two shows, Red Stick Ramblers on the 16th and Ferron on the 22nd were successful. Good enthusiatic crowds for each of them. I need to send one of the Ferron CDs to Donna McGee who took me to a Ferron concert in Vancouver in 1978. Ferron actually remembered the concert. I said I thought it was in a church; she said no, that it was July 31 in an art center that looks like a church.
The Red Stick Ramblers where absoulute charmers on stage; people bought a ton of their CDs at intermission. Off stage they were not so nice; Melissa was threatening to call somebody's mama in Eunice. Except for Glenn the drummer whose family knows Ingrid and Robert Matens, my sister and brother-in-law in Baton Rouge; he was the polite one who went off to take a nap to escape the others before the show. Theology Note: In heaven it's always Maine in late July or early August and it's always Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. |
