You will remember from my Town Meeting report that a selectman resigned when his proposal got shot down big time. Well, here goes. I am running for Selector. This is all new territory. I will fill out the papers today and start collecting signatures. At the selectors meeting on Monday night, it was painfully apparent that we need someone who can connect one logical sentence to another and who can find a way to communicate better with the community. For starters, I've added a mailing list sign up to UnityMaine.org and I will email the page weekly to subscribers. Very few people knew about that Monday night meeting where the committee to get a new plan on a Town Office was being formed. Now that the theater work is gone, I have some spare cycles to spend on other things.

It used to be people who worked at my company that would meet for pub night about once a month. Now increasingly it is people who used to work for the company. Don Schroeder had been with the company 17 years. Friday was his last day and the extended network met for drinks. Talented folks with a lot of institutional knowledge are taking pay cuts to get out of there. As close to semi retirement as I am, it looks like I will be there to... (censored for now)...
