Getting married turned out to be a lot of fun. It was a wonderful day. Sue Curra officiated and we did vows on our dock with as many best people that could fit and with folks on shore taking pictures. Decorations by autumn. After that we had a small celebration with food and drink at a lakeside park in town and did some simple contra dancing on the grass. My sister Colleen and neice Melanie came up from New Orleans and got to experience a slice of life in Unity. I think I heard a reference to Portlandia. We limited wedding planning to one week, making the arrangements in the car on the way to pick up the rings from Lisa Gent in Cape Elizabeth. Monica did the setup at the park. John McIntire led us in the dancing. Pat Allen held the ring tray and Nancy Lawrence was the flower girl. Mitch took photos. Our Commonground friends drove up from New Hampshire, Marge and Miff came from Southwest Haror and Lane came from Boston. Andi Bellerose got some good pictures of the dancing.
In the week since then we've had what Nancy termed a "sustainability honeymoon," as I worked like crazy prepping for basement foaming and heat pump installs and Melissa prepared a huge locavore harvest meal for SRLT's annual meeting. And tomorrow I start a week of training for a seasonal job at the LLBean call center in Bangor. I am glad we got to celebrate on that perfect October day with friends, family and community.
