If we didn't have company in the summer, we would never do these cool touristy things. Since Judith Wenger was here for a couple of days, we went coastal and one day did a favorite thing of mine and walked out on the Rockland breakwater the almost mile to the lighthouse on the end.
It is like hopscotch on granite blocks. There were tall ships in the Camden harbor and we saw those both close up and from Mount Battie. We had a lot of good chats about books, films, and friends. Judith is doing something many dream of doing: a ride around the country in a 13 foot Scamp pulled by a 13 year old Toyota Carolla. It's just her and Coco the entirely too intelligent and somewhat obsesssive schnoodle.
Today I did something for the 114th time although I'm not sure why I still do it; I canned some fresh cuts. This month had a train trilogy, a sun trilogy, two cuts to commemorate live performances, eight first time artists. Into the can they go to surprise me years later. There on the shelf among the jars of blueberry jam and zucchini relish, Miss September takes her place.
