august stuff

August 21 , 2022

The border opened and we zipped right through for a couple of nights in Grand Manan. Some of us loved the airstream trailer experience more than others, but the island, the ferry rides, the coffee shop, the views were great as before. We plan to zip over to Quebec City in October.

We are trying to raise some library funds with an August Appeal, but not getting a huge response, except for Brian's glads which get donations like crazy. Is the lesson that people like to get some immediate reward for their donation?

A perfect big picture book has presented itself and we have the perfect person willing to lead a discussion of it. A first for an evening event with Zoom access. I crank out flyers like this on Canva.
Unitel, our local phone/internet company, has been bought by an Idaho outfit. They will get rid of the email service they have offered for the last 20 years. At the library we help people get a gmail account and migrate their emails over to it. The new company wants to change their billing system to future use rather than past use and plans to double bill all their customers next month to do that. Imagine you are a service company and would like an infusion of cash...Just charge your customers twice as much for a month. Smells like a scam to me. They are a monopoly; people have no choice.
