all library all the time
Things that take a long time do eventually happen. The video conferencing equipment got installed and five bookcases for the children's room got delivered early. The first batch of 3 bookcases came on a pallet that was wider than the door and weighed 680 lbs. It came late in the day so we tarped it and left it. The next day we pried off the crate, hauled the pieces inside and put them together. The second big package came later that day, and we repeated the process. I had spent a lot of time on the phone making sure FedEx and the other carrier had the lift truck and pallet roller; the freight thing was new to me. I have also spent time with the Unitel network guy, Dave, trying to understand why our new gigabit internet doesn't speedtest above 250 megabits. I'm finishing up a grant request to Dollar General for $3000, and getting financial reports ready for the board meeting on Tuesday. What I am not getting done this year is the petition sheets for the five towns. Instead I hope to speak at each of their town meetings. There are only so many hours in the day.
Here are some markers about where the world is right now.
-- Russia could invade Ukraine at any minute. Biden is thankfully not being Chamberlain. Here is Anne Applebaum's excellent summation.
-- Geaux Joe is the call for Joe Burrow to finish the triple crown (national championship, Heismann, super bowl) today.
-- There are calls to quit Spotify over Joe Rogan's stupid podcast, but Spotify brings me all the music I need and I can't quit 'em. And that gospel choir album of Dylan songs from 1969 pops up in my Discover Weekly mix. No, no, can't quit.
-- The Lympics limp on. I will not make fun of curling. I will not make fun of curling. I will not make fun of curling. I will not make fun of curling.
-- Wordle every day. We usually get it in 4.
