Two favorite lobster spots: Young's in Belfast on the deck, and at home at the lake. Here are Ingrid (my sister) and Robert Matens, Todd and Maria. See, Lizette, you left too soon and missed two swell lobstah dinnahs.

Sorry about being way behind in PicayUnity reporting. Between work and playing with visitors, there hasn't been a minute. And it's more fun to tourist and dine with our visitors than to write about it. Like the Indigo Girls say, the language or the kiss.

Right behind Ingrid and Robert were Susan and Diane who were checking out the East before moving to the West. Last Tuesday they moved from N.O. to Portland, Oregon. I have their address & phone number there if anyone needs it. Susan needs to finish her engineering degree so she can design some ergonomic computer furniture, like the desk that rises and forces you to stand up 10 minutes an hour.

Cheryl and her designer dog Reuben were here last week. Reuben, a Brussels Griffon, has all the right dog instincts but nothing to back it up with. As Barb would say, he's more the idea of a dog than the dog itself. Cheryl smuggled the dog here on the plane. Next time we go to the airport we'll probably find ourselves under surveillance.

The final summer visitors were Kim and Bill Hanlon, formerly of Slidell, now of Vermont. We put them up at the Heron while we stayed at the lake with no qualms; Bill is some kind of G-Man narc who usually carries a gun.

On the work front here's the way it works. The governor, the legislature, and the chancellor decide some cool thing will be done. We read about it in the paper on Sunday morning and go Holy Shit. A day later the UNET director comes in and tells us we're doing it. This particular thing is a virtual community college website that talks to new(Oracle) and old(you don't want to know) student information system databases. I seem to be coordinating it on the Oracle/web programming side. The nervous tics I'm developing are all that bad, really. You can check out my project page. The gov wants searching by zip code and by gorry we're going to give it to him.

But the way best part is that to be sure I stay around on this project, they gave me a raise and title change (programmer/analyst). This semester I'll be taking Java. That's about making coffee I think. I figure I can write a paper comparing CDM and Community.

I'm working on the program to allow updating of information to the TP Directory, so don't worry if it misbehaves in the next couple of weeks.
