When I was down in Westbrook, we went to the big unfinished furniture place in Scarborough looking for some storage solution for a 126 inches of wall in the living room. Two 36's, a 30, and a 24 added up to just what we needed. Looks like it's always been there. Been talking about dealing with that for some time, so I'm just showing that we followed through. It is what Ani Difranco said about tattoos in "Shroud" that pushed me to just buy the cabinets instead of paying thousands to have them built in. We're into our splendid fall weather. A lot of season-of-mellow-fruitfulness-oh-world-I-cannot-hold-thee-close-enough-life-is-good moments. Global Warming has made September the new August; that works for me if not for other parts of the country. This is Commonground Fair weekend and the Commonground Family parties for 3 nights, two of them at our house, one of them at the B&B. These are the folks who started staying at the Copper Heron when the fair first moved to Unity. Even though we sold the B&B in 2003, we still play and party with them on this weekend. Thanks to Bahoosh, Martha, and Nancy for bringing sparkler light to parties. It's odd for us to go to the B&B; there's a story in our memory of every inch of the place. I left some treasures on the bookshelf there. I retrieved a copy of I and Thou with my 18 year old name in it. In it were the words to a song in Tagalog (Da hill sa yo) and an index card with this quote: "The noblest fiction is a fetish, the loftiest fictious sentiment is depraved." This is apple season and Melissa's new fav is honey crisp. I made my first apple pie, substituting lime for lemon, Frangelico for sugar, and adding cranberries. Turned out ok surprisingly. Good year for sunburst squash in our garden; a great year for things we didn't actually plant. A bushel of volunteer acorn squash, and what could have been prize winning teardrop pumpkins grown in the compost bin. Melissa was too busy co-coordinating the Folk Life area to submit the entry. We love it when one of us does actually submit something and we can go into the exhibition hall and officiously Check The Results.
