![]() ![]() Golf: year two of the UBR fundraiser. Second experience of being on a golf course. Melissa drove me around in a golf cart so I could take photos of all the teams. After that it was wretchedly boring. Dreamily stepping from my world into golf world, I saw these puppet things on the golf bags that I thought must be totemic animals to make them better players. But no, they were just covers for some of the clubs. I kept an eye out during the day to see if any players invoked the spirit of the bear or the moose. Riley and Veronica dealt with the boredom by tree climbing. Riley's mom Jayne told us that Riley came home from her first day in second grade and asked her if she knew what a schedule was. She thought she might need one. The other kids mostly had schedules that sent them to bed at 8 pm, so Riley started going to bed at 8 pm. We are under construction on two fronts. Our neighbor Bill is building our screen porch on the lake side, and we are having our leach field replaced so that this winter the septic system won't crap out, so to speak. The thing about living in the country is that you have to know way too much about your infrastructure. The other day at work three of us were standing around eating pastry ... and talking about our septic systems. It's just a fact of everyone's life.
