We're eating local strawberries and picking sugar snap peas from our garden. It's light early and late. The perfection of Maine summer is here. Recently finished Here Comes Everybody: The Power of Organizing Without Organizations by Clay Shirky, a terrific read about how the internet's social software, cell phones, and text messaging are empowering grass roots activism. I started in on Network Power: The Social Dynamics of Globalization by David Singh Grewal, but put it down. It reads like a doctoral dissertation. I hope he passed his comps, but it's no fun to read.
A good article on why the truly conservative position is not to lift the moratorium on offshore drilling. I found this article in the daily links list of quality political writing, both liberal and conservative, at Real Clear Politics. And of course Thomas Friedman hammers the Worst President Ever for his ridiculous excuse for policy. I've long suspected that W stands for wholly owned subsidiary.
